Starting with the travels of Linnaeus and his disciples around the world, researchers at Uppsala University have continued to explore our planet, with large expeditions and fieldwork enriching our collections and collaborations.

Through these efforts, we continue to expand our understanding of the world, contributing to scientific knowledge and addressing global challenges.

May 2025. Hunting for lichens on the Kebnekaise, highest mountain in Sweden (lichen curator M. Westberg).

June 2025. Exploring the deep-sea marine fauna from the Balearic Islands, Spain, during the MEDITS cruise (zoology curator P. Cárdenas and postdoc Julio A. Díaz, collaboration with the Spanish Institute of Oceanography in Palma).

July 2023. Looking for pre-Cambrian fossils in Luobakte, Torneträske, northern Sweden, part of the Digermulen Early Life Reasearch Group (DELRG) (paleontology curator J.-O. Ebbestad, collaboration with the University of Helsinki, Findland).

July 2023. Exploring reef sponges from the East coast of Sri Lanka
(zoology curator P. Cárdenas, collaboration with the University of Columbo, Sri Lanka).

October 2024. Exploring the famous Ordovician deposits of the Zagora area in southern Morocco. Part of ongoing research collaboration into the Ordovician deposits around the world (paleontology curator J.-O. Ebbestad).
